SeAM (Southeast Asian Ministry)

Background info of SeAm

Following the Vietnam War, many people of Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam fled persecution in their homelands and eventually made their way from refugee camps to the Twin Cities. In 1981, some Lutheran pastors and lay people responded to the many new refugees arriving in St. Paul by founding Southeast Asian Ministry (SeAM) as a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization.

"SeAM is a faith-based ministry serving as a catalyst to empower refugees and immigrants.  We educate the public about immigration issues and provide services with compassion and excellence."

Southeast Asian Ministry, a division of the Pan Dau shop, offers ongoing support to those refugees and immigrants who have been here for several years as well as serving the newly-arrived.  You can read more about the ESL classes, Elder Programs, Refugee Employment Service, parish nurses, and other ways in which we welcome our newer neighbors by exploring the "Our Programs" page on the left sidebar.  Scope out our staff, meet the board members, and check out our upcoming events.  If you would like to learn more about refugees in St. Paul or the work that SeAM does, click the "Get Involved" tab and feel free to contact us.
